I fell off the yoga wagon

Over the last six years since I have posted so many things in my life have changed. The most significant change comes with the number five, I am now the mother of five beautiful children. My husband and I have been married for thirteen years and have deepened our relationship and come to a much higher feeling of oneness and peace.

Yoga has flitted in and out of my life over this time. Living in Vernal, I taught yoga for a few months. I practiced yoga off and on by myself, met a few more yoga teachers, and lived life and raised children. Now I am back in Price and once again have the opportunity to teach yoga. When I last wrote I was pregnant with child number three. In the process of this pregnancy and life, I let completing my certification slip to the wayside.

Today I called Syl and discussed what I needed to do to extend my timeframe for completing my certification. All I needed when I quit the first time was seven blog posts. Seems quite silly in looking back. But I know that Heavenly Father has timing in all things. So I will be at peace and embrace the things that are happening now.

Pregnancy and Yoga

I have been teaching yoga up until about 2 weeks ago. I will be moving shortly so I stopped teaching. But I was begining to notice that my growing belly was starting to really be in the way of yoga.
Yoga during pregnancy is extremely beneficial and its a great easy exercise. Now is a perfect time for me to learn how to teach prenatal yoga... The trick is to convince this body to have energy and the desire to do it lol. I feel intimidated by it all. I am very use to body that is capable of bending, moving and holding itself up. So I will report back as I learn more about enjoying yoga with a large and in charge belly.

Essential Oils and Yoga

Essential oils can be a great way to enhance your yoga experience. They can help to focus during the flow, or to help you relax during Savasana. I love to use my Doterra essential oils while I teach yoga. Before I start teaching I use InTune which is a focus blend that includes Sandalwood. During Savasana I love Lavender or Serenity. I would highly suggest giving oils a try!

Listening

When I am teaching a yoga class. I am finding its important to listen to the energy around me. Sometimes it calls for pushing ourselves a little further in poses. Sometimes it tells us to deepen and stretch. I am really enjoying teaching and am so grateful for my students. I love that every time I teach it feels more natural and comes more easily. Teaching yoga is the best "job" ever!

Singing Bowls

Today I had the wonderful privilege of teaching yoga. But the best part is when I got to SEIHAC I was sitting on my mat centering myself to be ready to teach. I glanced up and notice that in the corner was a crystal singing bowl! So I asked Cindi about it and tried it out. I get to use it during yoga. A singing bowl, in yoga, is used to bring you back to awareness from Savasana. So I was able to use it at the end of the class and it was absolutely lovely and yummy! I am very excited to have this dimension to add to my classes. Thank you Syl for introducing me to singing bowls!

Class 1

Today I taught my first class outside of family since I completed training. I had 2 people show up for it. It went really smooth. I felt calm and collected and in myself. Overall it went wonderful.
We did Syls week one for beginners. So we learned basic poses and how to flow through some of them.
The place where I am teaching is so beautiful! The walls are a beautiful earthy brown. The whole place has a very peaceful lovely feeling. South Eastern Integrative Healing Center. Go and check it out!

The Buzz of Yoga

One of my favorite parts of yoga; is when you are flowing through a Vinyasa and you feel your prana begin to flow. It is the best buzz in the world. It just brings a smile to my face and I just feel happy and alive! Prana is a sanskrit word for "life". As it begins to flow you get a tingly buzzy feeling. Some people mistake it for dizziness, but it is different and wonderful!
